A new banner reading "Paradise City at Hard Rock Park" has been placed at the old mall. The sign shows the "Paradise City" logo above one of the mall's entrances.

Paradise City is a tentative plan to develop a dining, entertainment, and shopping complex directly off Highway 501, ajacent to Hard Rock Park, at the Old Waccamaw Pottery property.

We do not know anything further other than the placement of the sign.

I agree. Raymond how did you spot this? Did someone at the park let you know about it? Looks like if they get things going now they can open in 2009. With this open and some new attractions Hard Rock Park could really benefit.

Chris, you forget. I'm the Hard Rock Park Guru. (LOL) Not!

Actually, it right there for the public to see. It's just a banner. I just saw it and thought everyone needed a little pick-me-up.

The picture looks as though you can't see inside through the glass. So is the mall going to be it or are they going to rip it down and start from scratch?

This banner has been up for two weeks now. I came by two weeks ago and seen the lights on in there. It has trees inside of it and everything. I have seen tables and people working in it since. The paper covering the windows is new.

Folks, and especially you Rodney -

Please forgive me for editing Rodney's post about Paradise City. I did so for good reason, so please hear me out before you send The God OF Thunder and any other sentient being to condemn me for doing so.

1) Raymond is employed in a promotions capacity with Hard Rock Park.

2) The Powers-That-Be at Hard Rock read this site thru and thru with a fine tooth comb .

3) Unconfirmed posts concerning what is going on at Hard Rock Park, stating things like "This or that is not going to happen now" need to be run by Raymond first. Keep in mind that we NEED Raymond's inside knowledge to let us know what is really going on.

All I am asking is that you shoot Raymond an email first concerning things about what you are interested in at the park. If you post things about the park that aren't true or are unconfirmed by park personnel, you run the risk of putting Raymond's employment status with the park at risk.

In other words, if you are not employed with Hard Rock Park in any capacity, then please do not post things that could potentially damage our relationship with HRP. Speculative posts run the risk of starting rumors, and that has the potential to snowball into something larger and uglier.

Remember, we don't deal in rumors on this site, and Raymond is your best source for information concerning Hard Rock Park.

Thanks for reading and understanding.

I read but I def do NOT understand!

are you serious...?!?!?

I mean it's not like Raymond himself is coming in and giving out secrets of the park. If someone wants to post what they ""think"" will happen at the park I dont see a problem with it.

What is the problem with speculating about what the park may and/or may not do? Man you would totally not survive on other sites I and many others post on because thats what makes good conversation, speculation about what could happen and what might not happen. And said sites still keep a very tight relationship with the parks. As a matter of fact one site I can think of, a site geared toward halloween horror nights, has a very high ranking member of staff of universal studios orlando actively posting on it and rumors and speculation is the driving force of that site. There has even been leaks of photos on the site and everything was fine, as long as it doesnt show too much or give something away.

I just dont understand your authoritotarian approach to the internet...people are gonna speculate and say what they "heard". If this isn't a site where I can do that I can gladly find another site to frequent because this takes the cake!

I mean seriously there is even the halloween thread on here which is full of speculation (since nothing was officially said by the park)...are you gonna kill that next?

I think im gonna start refering to you as the internet Hitler!

Perhaps I should have left Rodney's post intact so you could see what I was talking about. You see, Rodney didn't just "speculate" about Paradise City - he came right out and "said" what was going to happen without proof. That was what bothered me. Those sorts of things catch the eye of the higher-ups at HRP.

Here's the deal - Raymond can catch flak from the higher ups he works with at HRP because of posts about the park that aren't supposed to be released to the public yet. If somebody posts the info here before press releases go out, Raymond will take the heat for it and come close to losing his job. I can't condone that.

As for other sites, I honestly don't care about them, as I don't frequent other sites. This message board is the one I care about, because it deals with subjects about my home away from home, although I'll probably never visit Hard Rock Park, because my theme park days are behind me.

You can call me whatever you want to call me, it doesn't bother me. What does bother me is when things are said by certain people that can affect someone else's employment situation.

I welcome good conversation on any internet message board, but I would hope that when people post about any subject, that they do so after thinking about what sort of repurcussions could result from their posts.

And if you think I'm heavy handed with the edit button, it doesn't compare to the other Admins here that keep an eye on things during the day while Raymond is at the park and I'm sleeping.

My post wasnt wihtout proof. I know almost everything about the inner workings of hard rock park because I have seen some of the concept drawings and I also have seen the inside of it before they put the paper up. There will be when you come in that door a kind of courtyard with trees that resemble palms. AND I DO HAVE PROOF. I more than likely get the pics of the concept drawings if you want. But i would get in some major trouble. But anyway what I was going to say ws that it is kind of going to be like a food court in mall at this area. This big building right now is only thing they are fixing up at the moment from the old waccamaw site and inside this building they have shops for lease already. I am also aware that Hard rock park has bought now the BEACH CHURCH behind led zepplin. The park has gaven them through dec of 08 or 09 to vacate and I cannot remember exactly which. THESE ARE NOT RUMOURS GREG. THESE HAVE ALL BEEN PROVEN AND THIS DID NOT COME FROM RAYMOND AT ALL. IT CAME FROM ANOTHER PERSON WHO HAS BEEN IN AND OUT OF THE OFFICE A LOT IN THE LAST TWO MONTHS AND IS KIND OF A KNOW IT ALL. SO HARD ROCK PARK I HAVE SYMPATHY ON YOU BECAUSE YOU HAVE A MOLE.

Good morning, all. It's time to chime in here and make a <insert godly voice> "POWERS-THAT BE" decision regarding rumors and posts.

In all honestly, I'm finding with the rumor mill surrounding Hard Rock Park, there are people who just want this place to tank and tank badly. They people who have been posting to Discover Myrtle Beach so far have been justified in posting what they hear, know or think they know.

The Hard Rock Park issue and all topics are a monster unto itself and unfortunate as some of the rumors may be. I have never seen this much word-of-mouth press in this town, other than this story. The ABC news ran this RUMOR story last night. It was, in my opinion, unfortunate that they chose to air it without a shread of proof.

Greg, in regards to Hard Rock Park, please allow me to make a final decision on what stays and goes. To everyone else, you may be wondering why I have not addressed certain stories, rumors, ride decisions, event-not-happenings, etc. To everyone I say this:

Because of my employment with Hard Rock Park, it has become an extremely fine line for me to report on some things related to the park. You will notice that ANYTHING released through DMB is only "Official" releases or something that is out there that the public can plainly see (a.k.a. the Paradise City Sign). While I could have posted that photo two weeks ago, but choose not to.

1. For obvious reasons, I can not get involved in releasing ANY information the company doesn't want released yet. That may go for ANYTHING as little as a new menu item.

2. I can not make it appear I am confirming or denying information that is even out there by other venues. So let's use an example. NEW RIDES. Have I read the rumors of a possible new ride? Of course. But how can I comment on it with it making it sound like I'm telling everyone yes it's happening or no it's not. To some, every word that comes from a representative of Hard Rock Park will be gone through with a fine-tooth comb. It could lead to more rumors good or bad.

3. ANYTHING you see releases through DMB is either "Officially Released News" or something I am allowed to release. Period.

I don't like rumors because they bring extremely bad results, especially the situation from yesterday. The Sun News has allowed HORRIBLE, outright DISGUSTING posts to be placed about the park. That is their choice. Here, I won't allow the hurtful stuff, but basic rumors from the people we have here so far have been tame in comparison and while I don't like a couple, I know the people who are placing it and they are not doing it just to see the park fail. They like the place, for the most part and are giving an honest opinion.

DMB is a company with a public board. We can edit or delete posts how we choose, but we must be responsible enough to admit we put this up as a PUBLIC board and should not censor things we may not agree with. Hurtful towards a member, yes. Vulger, yes. Rumors that are completely intended to do harm, and nothgin more, absolutely. But so far, this is what people are talking about. So, <insert godly voice again> "GO FORTH CHILDREN. Keep it honest. Keep it clean."

Raymond I understand your position, but you are also in a position that none of us are in, and people get curious. You know better then most how the internet works, I think in my opinion the park needs to be more open with the community and the internet.

We still don't even know about a Halloween event, is it canceled still going to happen?

The rumors that are going about the park are bad, and have got me worried. Why is the park staying so quite? It seems like if there were rumors released about my company I would out there addressing them, espically if it's hurting my company. I am sure the park cannot address every rumor or speculation, but major ones like these should be addressed quickly.

Regarding what you said about how the Internet works...You're absolutely right. EVERY theme park (big summer movies too) now deals with Internet Buzz and the good, bad and Ugly. But this is the FIRST theme park that people really got to chime in on the Internet as the park was being developed and the first to deal with Internet Buzz in its first year. The last theme park to open was about 10 years ago and the Internet was no where to the entity is is today. Hell, you know all the information I first had on the Internet over the past year and a half before the place opened. So Hard Rock Park is the model of what to expect for future places.

All the negative will not only hurt Hard Rock Park as some hope, but hurt the entire Myrtle Beach tourism marketing. Someone else mentioned that no oter company will want to come in and build a major attraction here. So the area will be hurting for tourism growth.

Unfortunately, I can not speak for the Park. It's not my place. So I can only say what is released or what people already know. I'd love to talk further about things here. I'm so excited about them. But....

I am just very greatful that they're are die hard fans who absolutely love them place and speak up, even if there's some critizism. I know it's because of their passion for its success.

I agree, I don't get Myrtle Beach sometimes..... rolleyes.gif Do they not know where they live? blink.gif blink.gif

Hello! We live in a tourist town, so anything that is a tourist attraction shopping, food, parks, attractions, etc. is good for the economy and for the state. People come here for vacactions, to spend their money in our city. Instead of looking at the positives everyone seems to look at the negatives, just look at what they are doing with the Bike Rally they don't want it in our city even though they bring in a large amount of bussiness to the area. I won't harp too much on all this because I would be doing exactly what everyone else is doing just the taking the opposite side.

I think sometimes myself and a few others are the only ones that support the park, but then I read all the exciting comments from people on the fourms from here, and comments from my site and I get excitied again! Here's to all the true believers! smile.gif

Did I miss something here. What story on WPDE? What happened. And as far as I am oncerned in thsi equation I am only telling truth and being completely honest. I love the park and go all the time and do not want it to fail.

This is not true at all, I know for a fact that it hasn't been bought out and that there isn't even talks going on so i don't know where you got this idea from.

What's that supposed to mean? Hi what?

The story was on WPDE yesterday wher ethey actually talked about the rumors. When does a news channel become a gossip channel? They had no proof other than "word around town". So much for respectful broadcasting.
