Word is already spreadng like wildfire that Hard Rock Park, which closed it doors and filed for bankruptcy in 2008, appears to have a buyer. The news of th sale has broken just one day after many creditors received official court notice of the change over from a chapter 11 to chapter 7 conversion.

A company named FPI MB Entertainment is looking to close the sale as soon as possible. Original word to Discover Myrtle Beach was that the park needed to be sold by February or the park would be sold off piece by piece by the bank. The sale of the park- $25 million.

Two weeks ago, we reported the removal of the Hard Rock Park name from the Hard Rock International website. We also happened to snap a photo of the Magical Mystery tour bus traveling down the highway presumably to Hard Rock's main wharehouse in Orlando. All seemed lost...or so the public thought.

Last week, the Sun News reported that a company pulled out of a sale during the auction held in December. However, the story was not complete. Potential buyers had been going through the park making every effort to get the park back up ad running.

If the sale is finally approved by the courts in Deleware, the company is hoping to open the park by Memorial Day 2009. Documents filed by FPI MB say it will take 90 days to get the park up and running.

More to come....

I noticed this and seen it on the sun news at 9:45 and posted on here not soon after. I hope they can open it back up but they need to drop prices to 25 fro adults and 12 for kids 12 and under. If they do this they will get huge amounts of people coming in. I cant wait. PLEASE LET THIS PULL THROUGH.

Parks generally based their "kids" price on height (but mask it by saying a younger age since generally at a particular age a kid is a particular height, in turn not tall enough to enjoy the whole park) rather than age because thats a tough situation when someone says their "kid" is a kid. But I wouldnt call at 12 year old a "kid" when it comes to a theme park...

This is going to be a huge success if the sale goes through. The new park will attract a heck of a lot more people than Hard Rock Park did. Why? Because people know about it now. I'm even interested in going!!

Looks like I may get to experience the park after all. If it will only take 90 days to open the park, will they be keeping the name HARD ROCK?

This is a very positive outlook for the area. Many jobs will be reintroduced to the area. Not only can this help revitalize the area's saging tourism market, but the new jobs will take a little strain of the state's unemployment filings. The governor is currently at odds with the SC Employment Commission who is on the verge of bankruptcy itself.

As far as the park in concerned, I am VERY happy to say "I told you so"...that this story was not over. You should listen to your Uncle Raymond.

One Myrtle Beach tourism operator stated to Discover Myrtle Beach, "Any sign of good news in this economy is a good thing".

In fact, we are learning that a small number of employees may have returned to work at Hard Rock Park as early as this past Christmas in preperation for a pending sale and reopening.

The company that purchased the park for $25 million, FPI MB Entertainment LLC, was filed on February 4, 2009, in Delaware. But speculation of who is actually involved remains a mystery. Rumors of everyone from the owners of Wild Water & Wheels, to the former CEO and the current head of the board of directors for Burrough's and Chapin, to a 3rd party Russian investor may be involved in part of the purchase. I believe B&C (the company) has stated they were not interested in the park.

The park will need to fill upwards of a thousand or so jobs from management to ride operator to concessions in order to get the park ready for the target of Memorial Day Weekend or earlier.

More to come...

I'm amazed at all the posts on other boards, namely the Sun News, are no longer all negative. I hear the park will open under the same name, but I can't be sure.

Ask and you shall receive! The Countdown Clock is on the HRP Page of the main site. It needs work though.

As for the Park, we can confirm our earlier report that the owner of Wild Water and Wheels, Mark Lazarus, is part of th second group interested in the park.

Therefore, if our earlier report of the deal being closed last night is false, a bidding war for the park can still be in the works.

Actually if you take a look at the news at the moment, the park HAS NOT been officially sold. There are two other prospective groups that are thinking of buying the park out as well. So to put it into simple terms, there is going to be an auction war to see who the new owners of the park is going to be.

great news for the area, now get some people hired. But, I think they should rename it Grand Strand Park or something along those lines. Still better wait and see how many people are coming to town for vacations the park can not survive by locals alone.
