In an article by the Charlotte Observer with Steve Baker of Baker Leisure Group, who is overseeing the park's reopening, Baker said, "The park needs to be a bit more family-oriented" and removing Nights in White Satin is a move in that direction.

It is unclear how soon Nights will be removed or replaced. For the park to move in the "family-oriented" direction, we expect a few other things to be removed from the park or at least under consideration.

1. Poster of Lollipop-Clad Woman: The picture is a large image of a young woman, who is standing topless, with two giant all-day suckers cover her chest. The photo is (was) located in the All Access Entry Plaza, near I Want Candy.

2. Magic Mushroom Garden: This ride, located at the entrance to British Invasion from Rock & Roll Heaven, should definitely receive a theme make-over for obvious reasons.

3. Quees Head Pub Album Covers: This may may have gone unnoticed but the three album covers on the side of the building, featuring groups like "The Indigo Girls" and the "Pet Shop Boys" may get removed. For those in the know, there is no conincidence that the Queens Head Pub features all Gay & Lesbian albums. And if you were really quick, you noticed the sign on the side of the building that had an arrow pointed around the corner that said "Deliveries in the Rear".

4. Bathroom Voyuers: In the bathroom on the side of The Whammy Bar, female pictures over the urinals are made to look at though the ladies are staring at men as they do their business. In one scene, an old woman stare through a magnifying glass.

Keep in mind, we are not passing ANY judgement on what the park offered. The above are materials brought to our attention during discussions with Passholders we recently sat down with to discuss the "family-friendly" atmosphere at the park. To be clear we are not suggesting that the park will remove these elements.

Whatever the case, the workers have a lot to do before the scheduled reopening over the Memorial Day weekend.

5. Elements of Malibu Beach Party: A big concern to many parent we spoke to were the drig references, male hot dog skit and the scantly bikini clad girls from the show. One section of the show feature four female performers raised about the crowd doing splits and spins on rings, which could be compared to "strippers on poles" as one mother recently described to us.

6. Elements of Roadies Stunt Show: There could be one or two elements removed from this show. At one point, the sole female performer is drenched with water and features are shot at her. Also, the bands name, which the show's roadies work at may disappear. When a performer rips the banner with the group's name is reassembled, it reads "Roadies Suck".

7. Park Characters: If you've been to the park and took pictures with some of the character strolling the streets, memories may be all you have left with some. The British Royal Guards and the Tarts, all in their mini skirts are options the park may wish to cut.

7. Kick Ass: While the level of service by park employees was always top-notch, we doubt they will continue to tell park guests to have a "Kick Ass Day!" any longer.

No more Moody Blues, huh?

This is a sad, sad day.

I've read and listened to reports of those who visited in the past w/ their children. Since not one mentioned anything "out of line", I wonder if this might be a marketing ploy to attract a bigger crowd. I always thought anything suggestive in nature made money.

Removing a ride like Nights in White Satin is nothing objectionable compared to some other things, some which were listed above. Removing "The Trip" from the name is all that would need to be done. It should be enhanced with more not removed. Perhaps they do not see the value in The Moody Blues name. I wonder if they will keep The Eagles e That can go. It is not needed. They need indoor rides because the summer heat will keep people away unless there is something to do inside. The arcade is not enough.

Just over two months to go and still no name, no prices, no hours, no advertising.

Looks like that one ride I'll never get to try. If its not family friendly, they'd probably keep it closed when they open. It would mke the park have one ride less.

I can not beleive they would remove this, what is not family friendly about it. Kids love colors and strobes. This is not right, just change the name.

Wasn't it always broken? I remember hearing that one of them was closed for days at time.

Maximum RPM! has problems throughout the season. There was a spell when they were operating at 99% on it as well. NIWS did have its mechnical problems, but as I've said before, I remember when Universal Studios opened in Florida in 1990 and many of the rides constantly broke down. Even Disney-MGM had lots of issues with rides when they first opened. ANY park will have glitches until they get some time to work out the kinks. Overall, the Tech Services department did an amazing job at getting the park running as smooth as they could.

That must be the one I'm thinking about. The ferris wheel one. I agree that they had to work out all the issues with rides. Nothing is going to run like clockwork. Taking a line from the movie, Jurassic Park, "We have all the problems of a major theme park".

Indoor rides would be a great addition. The heat on the beach is killer.

I'm a firm believer that it would be great for the park to retheme Life in the Fast Lane to the original idea of a haunted mine car coaster. Dropping the name would save money on unneeded licensing. Then build a hanger around the ride and place it indoors. It would be similar to The Mummy in Universal. Just a wild fantasy idea.

I have been keeping up with this site for the last couple of months now about this park.

But here is a question. Has anybody considered that it could be that the company could not get licensing agreement for the ride, but instead they are claiming that it is not "family friendly" enough for the park? I have seen videos on youtube of that ride, and to me it does not seem like there is anything wrong with it in the first place. Just curious.

That is a possiblity OrlandoParks, but if you follow the article, they specifically say to be more family-friendly, NIWS has to be "yanked". The ride was completely tame. It was named "The Trip", but it is hardly un-family-friendly.

The queue line stands on it's own as an attraction! the video torso, hologram skull, interactive video wall, peppers ghost, bliss lights, black lights and then the swirling tunnel with the swinging walkway! That is the queue line leading to the ride boarding area.

The queue line was almost better than the ride. The only thing that was not family friendly about this attraction was the name. My 12 year old son loved it; it is truly unique as a dark ride. Re theming would be a much better option than removing.

Hopefully, that's the plan. I'm sure they see the value in a dark ride, especially because its an indoor ride.

Thanks for the video link, Rodney! For those who know the ride, you can see the changes that were made since its opening. For example, the disco balls at the end were replaced with 3-dimensional planets. The best was the puff of smoke that shot out at you and the holographic image on the mist.
